William G. Milliman age 87 of Burr Oak, Michigan passed away early Tuesday morning April 18, 2017 at Drew's Place in Coldwater, Michigan.
He was born December 5, 1929 in Burr Oak, Michigan son of the late Nelson and Mildred (Robbins) Milliman.
Bill was a lifelong Burr Oak resident and a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1948.
On September 16, 1950 he married Betty Elaine Brunner at the Burr Oak United Methodist Church in Burr Oak. She preceded him in death on January 16, 2017.
Bill owned and operated Milliman's Barber Shop in Sturgis for many years until his retirement in 1992.
He was a member of the Burr Oak United Methodist Church, Meridian Sun-Eagle Lodge #49 F&AM, Sturgis Shrine Club, Life Member and Past Commander of Neuman-Wenzel Post #73 American Legion and Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW.
Bill was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War earning the rank of Sergeant.
He enjoyed woodworking and if there was a card game to be played you could count on Bill playing a hand or two. Bill had enjoyments and involvements but what he truly cherished was time spent with his family. He especially loved following his children and later his grandchildren's many sporting events and activities.
He is survived by two daughters: Kim Sikorski of Burr Oak and Lisa Lagrimas of Oroville, California; one son: Todd (Mary) Milliman of Sturgis; two grandchildren: Chad Milliman and Halie (Matt) Logan; great granddaughter: Adalyn Logan; two brothers: Cleon Milliman of Burr Oak and N. Neil (Kathy) Milliman of South Bend, Indiana and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one son: William G. Milliman, II and one sister: Lola Fiebelkorn.
In accordance with Bill and Betty's wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. A memorial service celebrating and honoring the lives of Bill and Betty Milliman will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak where full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations in Bill's memory be directed to the Burr Oak Fire Department, P.O. Box 366, Burr Oak, MI 49030 or the Saladin Shrine Orthopedic Hospital for Children, 233 Fulton, Suite 102, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
