Susan "Marsha" Gibson age 66 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Monday evening February 6, 2017 at the Fairview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Centreville, Michigan.
She was born April 26, 1950 in Benton Harbor, Michigan daughter of the late William M. and Phyllis G. (Ragsdale) Hinton.
Susan resided most of her life in Sturgis.
She was employed as a secretary at Advance Schools in Chicago and worked as a mail carrier in Arizona. The most important job she had was being a stay at home mom.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sturgis where she was also a member of the Relief Society.
Susan had a true appreciation for animals especially her dogs and she enjoyed gardening and loved Country and Gospel music.
She is survived two daughters: Wendy (Rose) Perez of Colon and Jaynee Gibson of Sturgis; grandchildren: Legacy Perez of Colon, Isaac Perez of Colon, Briana Gibson of Sturgis, Tyler Morris of Sturgis, Ayden Carpenter of Sturgis and Gabriele Carpenter of Sturgis; one great grandson: Quintin Gibson; two sisters: Rebecca (David) Smith of Allegan and Nancy (Eddy) Sather of Arizona; three brothers: William (Gloria) Hinton of Florida, David Hinton of Schoolcraft and Jeffrey Hinton of Arizona and many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one great grandson: Jerome Gibson and one sister: Melinda Katz.
In accordance with family wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1111 Gallyn St., in Sturgis. Bishop Sean Peterson will officiate.
The Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 is entrusted with the arrangements.
