Sadie Belle Hardy age 93 of Burr Oak, Michigan passed away early Sunday morning March 26, 2017 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis, Michigan.
She was born November 27, 1923 in Burr Oak, Michigan daughter of the late John Arthur and Eva Merle (Brooks) Dunham.
Mrs. Hardy was a lifelong Burr Oak resident and a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1941.
On August 14, 1948 she married John S. Hardy in Angola, Indiana. He died March 16, 1975.
She had been employed by Burr Oak Rubber Products and assisted her sister-in-law: Georgia Belle Dunham with dog grooming.
She enjoyed sewing; babysitting and her famous chocolate chip cookies will be forever missed. Mrs. Hardy truly loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters: Patty Avery of Burr Oak and Brenda Perry of Sturgis; one son: John C. (Trudy) Hardy of Sturgis; seven grandchildren: Nathan (Brandie) Avery, Lois (Andrew) Large, Derek Perry, Mike (Crystal) Perry, John Landis, Lori (Steve) Shanahan and Jenny (Dan) Scherbovich; 14 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters: Pauline Bowman, Ruth Lowry and Charlotte Weitting and three brothers: Bernard, Charles and Clifford Dunham.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 followed by a procession to the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak where graveside services and burial will take place at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday. The Rev. Jean Ness of the Howe United Methodist Church will officiate.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be directed to the charity of one's own choice.
