Roland H. Bedard age 81 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Sunday evening February 5, 2017 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born June 21, 1935 in Danielson, Connecticut son of the late Joseph Henry and Lillian (DePorche) Bedard.
Roland resided in Sturgis since 1957 coming from Connecticut. On February 2, 1957 he married Marion Elizabeth Barr in Oneco, Connecticut.
Roland was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from 1952 – 1956.
He retired from the Machine Rite Company in La Grange, Indiana following 10 years of employment. Prior to joining Machine Rite he had been employed by Sturgis Newport Business Forms for 23 years until the closing of the business.
He was a member of the Sturgis Church of Christ and a member of the Old Car Club for over 30 years. He enjoyed antique car restoring, photography and was known to be able to repair or fix nearly anything.
He is survived by his wife: Marion; one daughter: Susan Neeley of Howe, Indiana; one son: Brett (Paula) Bedard of White Pigeon; five grandchildren: Issac (Ann) Harker, Philip (Kim) Harker, Paul (Erica) Harker; Zackery Bedard and Katie Bedard; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Lorrainne Barr and Claire Bedard.
Private graveside services and burial will take place at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
