Patricia J. (Dean) Bellaire age 82 of Sturgis, Michigan went home to be with her Lord early Friday morning December 23, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her loved ones after a seven month battle with cancer.
Patricia was born May 31, 1934 in St. Patricia's hospital in Aylesbury, England, the daughter of Thomas and Annie (Coppock) Dean.
She married Paul W. Bellaire on August 7, 1954 at the Bicester Methodist Church, Bicester, England. Of their fifty-two years of married life, Patricia said, "We had a wonderful life. We've been everywhere and seen everything, and your Dad was the most wonderful person in the world."
Patricia attended Bicester Methodist Church in Bicester England from the age of 5 until her marriage to Paul, a young American airman, in 1954. While there, she taught Sunday school, participated in the annual Sunday school concerts, and assisted the Sunday school Superintendent, Sid G. Hedges, in typing and editing some of his books. After graduating from school, she also worked for six months for the Nielsen polling agency. As a young teen and adult she also was part of the Red Rhythmics Harmonica Band, which performed on radio and in concerts.
Patricia taught Sunday school most of her life, and supported her children by serving as a leader for both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. She was an active member of the Sturgis Wesleyan Church (Radiant Life), working with children in Awana, planning dinners, and helping with the church's monthly food give away.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Bellaire, a daughter, Linda Jean (Bellaire) Cunningham, her father Thomas Dean, and her mother Anne (Coppock) Dean.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia A. (Clifford) Ort; and sons Thomas D. (Debbie) Bellaire and Robert D. Bellaire, of Sturgis, and James E. (Heather) Bellaire of Elkhart, Indiana; five grandchildren: Melissa Fitzsimmons of Grand Rapids; Paul D. Ort of Battle Creek; David A. Cunningham (Ashley), of Sturgis; Phillip T. Ort of Kansas City, Missouri, and Thomas D. C. Bellaire of Sturgis, and six great grandchildren: Jayzin, Alexander, Darren, Danny, Izzy, and Sophia.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Patricia J. Bellaire will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Radiant Life Church (Sturgis Wesleyan Church) 907 N. Nottawa St., in Sturgis. The Rev. Ryan Bibb will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
Patricia wanted any memorial donations to be directed toward the Youth For Christ, P.O. Box 382, Sturgis, MI 49091 or and Child Evangelism Fellowship, 708 S. VanBuren St., Auburn, IN 46706 two ministries she supported for many years.
