Margaret Lodema (Shotzman) Hudson age 91 of Sturgis, Michigan went to be with the Lord Wednesday evening June 14, 2017 at her home.
She was born May 3, 1926 at home in Quenemo, Kansas daughter of the late Jacob Wesley and Blanche Dora (Rodgers) Shotzman.
Margaret's early life was lived in Charleston, Arkansas where she was a graduate of Charleston High School with the class of 1944.
During WWII Margaret worked at an Army base in the PX where she met a persistent soldier, James J. Hudson who soon proposed and on December 7, 1945 the couple was married at the First Baptist Church in Charleston, Arkansas. Shortly after the marriage James moved the family to Sturgis where the Hudson family lived.
Margaret retired from the Kirsch Company in Sturgis following many years of dedicated employment.
She was an active member of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Sturgis now known as Radiant Life where she taught Sunday school for many years. Margaret was a loving wife and mother to four children and was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.
The family would like to give special thanks to Mary Eicher and Carolyn Beardsley for the excellent care they gave to their mother so she could remain in her home.
She is survived by two sons: James (Sharon A.) Hudson and Kenneth (Sharon K.) Hudson both of Sturgis; one daughter: Priscilla (Leland) Bathgate of Sturgis; eight grandchildren: Tracy (Paul Arscott) Hudson, Amy (Chad) Tomlinson, Leland (Kelly) Bathgate, Jr., Benjamin (Wendy) Hudson, Heather McFall, Kristopher Hudson, Angela (Scott) Otterbien, and Christina Bathgate; 13 great grandchildren: Breanna, Katilyn, Carter, Braden, Trevin, Myles, Elliott, Ian, Austin, David, Wesley, Addilyn and Tyler; two great great grandchildren: Ashton and Areila; two brothers: Ernest (Mary Ann) Shotzman and Garry (Mary) Shotzman and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: James J. Hudson, December 10, 2000; son: Daniel Hudson; grandson: Kerry Hudson; four brothers: William Shotzman, Harold Shotzman, Willis Shotzman and Charles Shotzman and one sister: Donna Bontrager.
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091. Funeral services celebrating the life of Margaret L. Hudson will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Ryan Bibb of Radiant Life Church will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
