Joseph Edward "Joey" Moore Sr., age 73, a long time Bronson resident passed away early Thursday morning July 27, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family after spending the past 4 months under the care of hospice.
Joe was born January 9, 1944 in Springfield, Ohio, the son of William & Mary (Nier) Moore.
He resided in Bronson for many years coming from Springfield, Ohio after the birth of his 3rd child and resided in Stroh, Ind, Colon, MI and Sturgis before finally settling in Bronson.
On August 16, 1964 he married Carol Dawson in Springfield, Ohio.
Some of the many passions Joe found the most joy in were time spent with his family while hunting, fishing and camping. Everyone has a great story and experience learning something while sharing these passions with Joe. He had one of the best poker faces at almost any poker table. Joe was always just as handy in the kitchen cooking. He could make anyone who knew him enjoy a good western movie with him and not a western movie he hadn't seen at least twice.
After coming from Springfield, Ohio Joe worked at numerous RV trailer factories in the area and did construction work until accepting a position at Fry Copy Systems of Sturgis where he worked until his retirement. Joe enjoyed his retirement years playing a role in caring for his grandchildren through the years. He even took in children for other family relatives that would simply ask for his help in child care.
He is survived by his wife, Carol of 53 years; two sons, Joseph E. (Melissa) Moore Jr. of Springfield, Ohio and Timothy D. Moore of Sturgis; three daughters, Kimberlin (Todd) Krontz of Burr Oak, Patricia (Christopher) Pritchett of Bronson and Tracy (Tom) Wallace of Howe, Indiana; 5 grandsons Zachery (Allison) and Caleb Moore, Timothy Allen Morr, Dustin Krontz and Carter Wallace; 2 great grandchildren; four brothers; William Jr., Donald Sr., Ronald Sr. and Larry Sr.; five sister, Beverly, Marcy, Carolyn, Sharon and Rebeca along with several nieces and nephews all of Springfield, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson Justin.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284 where funeral services celebrating the life of Joseph "Joey" Moore, Sr. will begin at 2:00 P.M. Sunday. The Rev. Rodger Moyer of the Sturgis Evangelical Church will officiate. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow the services.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to the family to help with expenses or to the Hospice of Sturgis, P.O. Box 126, Sturgis, MI 49091.
