Janet Glee Swihart age 74 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Wednesday afternoon, March 8, 2017 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born January 26, 1943 in Battle Creek, Michigan daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Jones) Hartsel.
Janet resided in the Sturgis and Bronson area most of her life and was a graduate of Bronson High School with the class of 1961.
On October 26, 1985 she married Carl Swihart in Sturgis. He died September 25, 1997.
Janet was employed as a hairdresser for 27 years until her retirement.
She was a member of the Radiant Life Wesleyan Church where she served as a greeter and enjoyed Bible study. She was also a member of TOPS, collected Hallmark Christmas decorations and loved her dog Ginger.
Janet is survived by several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father: Francis Hartsel and her mother and step-father who raised her Elizabeth and Harry Wilson and one brother: Charles "Chuck" Hartsel.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Radiant Life Church in Sturgis where funeral services celebrating the life of Janet Glee Swihart will begin at 11:00 A.M. Monday. The Rev. Ryan Bibb will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
