James Wilson Bohyer age 74 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Thursday morning January 26, 2017 at his home.
He was born May 5, 1942 in Sturgis, Michigan son of the late Ralph and Maria (Guerrero) Bohyer.
Jimmy resided in Sturgis for most of his life with the exception of the time he lived in California where he worked as a currier.
Jimmy was a talented electrician by trade and had been employed by Humphrey Electric.
He was a past member of the Eagles Lodge #1314 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, turtle trapping, gardening, shooting pool and working in his yard. Jimmy loved reading especially nonfiction material and writing poetry.
He is survived by his companion and soulmate: Mary Deal; one daughter: Misty Wisler Youngson of Williamsburg; one son: Cody (Carrie) Bohyer of Sturgis adopted son: Christopher Pontius of Sturgis; nine grandchildren; one brother: Rodney (Rose) Bohyer of Colon and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Betty Blair and Anita Clark.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of James W. Bohyer will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Gracepoint Baptist Church, 26268 W. Chicago Rd. in Sturgis. The Rev. Gregory Long will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Bohyer's memory consider VFW Post #1355, 264 E. Fawn River Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091 or the Gracepoint Baptist Church, 26268 W. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
