Harold Dean "Pat" Krontz, Jr. age 79 of Burr Oak, Michigan passed away early Wednesday morning January 25, 2017 at his home.
He was born January 25, 1937 in Weidman, Michigan son of the late Harold D. and Gertrude L. (Phillips) Krontz.
Pat resided most of his life in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area. His early life was spent in Vicksburg.
On May 22, 1954 he married Laura Lee Leatherbery in Centreville, Michigan. She died January 10, 2014.
Pat had been employed by Sturgis Newport Business Forms for many years until the closing of the business. He retired from Continental Accessories in Sturgis.
He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose Chapter #574 and was a firefighter for the Burr Oak Fire Department. Pat was a collector of hats, an avid fan of NASCAR and always enjoyed a cold beer with friends and family.
Pat was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army earning the rank of Corporal.
He is survived by two daughters: Joan Lung and LouAnn (Steve) Johnson both of Burr Oak; two sons: Gary Krontz and Daniel Krontz both of Burr Oak; four grandchildren: Jamie Lung of Battle Creek, Scott (Kim) Krontz of Bronson, Staff Sergeant Nathan (Amanda) Johnson of Burr Oak and Krysten (Michael) Oldenberg of Burr Oak; 12 great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; one brother: Charles (Sharon) Krontz of Pekin, Illinois and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son-in-law: Jack Lung; grandson: Todd Lung; great grandson: Michael Lung; one sister: Lillian Kyle and one brother: Chester "Stub" Krontz.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M., Saturday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Private burial will take place at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak where full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to the Hackman Family Funeral Homes, P.O. Box 9, Sturgis, MI 49091 to help with expenses.
