George Edward Musolff age 61 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away unexpectedly early Tuesday evening July 18, 2017 at the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born June 15, 1956 in Sturgis, Michigan son of George and Dixie (Miller) Musolff.
George resided most of his life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1974.
On January 23, 1976 he married Kim A. Unterkircher at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis.
George retired in 2016 from the City of Sturgis following 22 ½ years of dedicated service as the city's Building Official.
He enjoyed playing golf and his many guitars. George truly loved time spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Kim; one daughter: Katherine (Josh) Chornyak of Ypsilanti; three sons: Corey (Meghan) Musolff of Ann Arbor, Cole Musolff and Clay (Heidi) Musolff both of Sturgis; one grandson: Traverse Chornyak; his father: George Musolff of White Pigeon; two sisters: Julia (Barry) Edds of White Pigeon and Cathy (Mike) Beatrice of New Mexico; two brothers: Scott (Kathy) Musolff of White Pigeon and Randall (Peggy) Musolff of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother; infant brother: Terry Owen Musolff and nephew: Jonathon W. Edds.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284 where a time of sharing memories will begin at 8:00 P.M. Friday followed by full military honors conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 VFW and the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. In accordance with his wishes cremation will follow the visitation. A continued time of honoring and celebrating George's life will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the family home at 716 N. Nottawa St. in Sturgis.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in George's memory consider the Sturgis Area Foundation, 310 N. Franks Ave., Sturgis, MI 49091.
