Eleanore J. Laughry age 75 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Tuesday morning, November 29, 2016 at the Parkview LaGrange Hospital in LaGrange, Indiana.
She was born April 15, 1941 daughter of the late Jeremiah and Florence (Smith) Bupp.
Eleanore resided most of her life in Sturgis. On September 23, 1960 she married John E. Laughry in Angola, Indiana.
Eleanore retired from the custodial department of the Sturgis Public Schools following over 20 years of dedicated employment. She also had been employed by the Transogram Company in Sturgis.
She enjoyed word search puzzles, quilting, knitting, crocheting, reading and playing cards.
She is survived by her loving and dedicated husband of 56 years: John; two daughters: Peggy Laughry and Brenda Laughry both of Sturgis; two sons: Steven (Kelly) Laughry of Three Rivers and John W. Laughry of Sturgis; six grandchildren: Eric, Delmar, Zayne, Zandria, Zach and Zo; four great grandchildren: Alex, Tucker, Cami and Olivia; one sister: Elsie Smith of Coldwater and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters: Edith Overholt, Evelyn Winks, Emma White and Elaine Saddison; three brothers: Elwin Bupp, Ezra Bupp and Ernest Bupp.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Eleanore Laughry will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home. In accordance with family wishes cremation will follow the services. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Laughry's memory consider the American Cancer Society or the veteran's organization of one's choice.
