Darrell Dean Fisk age 88 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Friday evening July 7, 2017 at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
He was born September 8, 1928 in Lansing, Michigan son of the late Charles V. and Marian (Peters) Fisk.
Darrell resided in Sturgis since 1961 coming from the Lansing, Michigan area.
On July 2, 1949 he married Janette Ferrier in Dansville, Michigan.
Most of Darrell's working life was as an accountant and real estate broker. He had been employed as an accountant by the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for 30 years, the Dometic Corporation for eight years and as a broker with Jesse Schaffer Real Estate Inc. for 20 years. He also owned and operated Professional Tax Accounting a business he operated from his home for many years.
He was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. He also held memberships in the Institute of Management Accountants formerly known as National Association of Accountants, St. Joseph County Board of Realtors and the American Legion.
Darrell joined the Civil Air Patrol Army Air Corp in 1944 and served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from 1947-1952. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and vacationing with family.
Darrell was very proud of his Native American Heritage of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 68 years: Janette; one daughter: Cynthia (Jeffery) Haack of White Pigeon; two sons: Mark (Kathy) Fisk of Ypsilanti and Darrell Dean Fisk, II of Sturgis; six grandchildren: Adam (Amber) Fisk, David (Kim) McKee, Victoria (Ali) Alugaili, Anthony Fisk, Craig (Megan) Grabe and Nathan (Crystal) Grabe and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews and very special friend: Roberta Swift of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Merle Fisk; special grandson: Jesse Haack; two brothers: Larry Fisk and Ronald Fisk; one sister: Marilyn Lohrer and very special friend: Kenneth Swift.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Darrell D. Fisk will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Dennis DeMott will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
