Carol Edith Easterday age 88 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon April 5, 2017 at her home with her daughter at her side.
She was born April 17, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio daughter of the late Homer Edward and Edith E. (Bury) Townsend.
Mrs. Easterday resided in Sturgis since 1960 coming from Columbus, Ohio.
On September 20, 1950 she married Donald E. Easterday in Columbus, Ohio. He died March 22, 2012.
With her husband she owned and operated Keesler and Emerson Appliance Store in Sturgis for many years. She also had been employed Carl Rehm's Clothing Company in Sturgis and the Borden Company in Columbus, Ohio and she was a dedicated wife mother and grandmother.
Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. She was an avid Bridge player and loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter: Kimberley (Greg Persing) Prak of Sturgis; two sons: Kirk (Karen) Easterday and Keith (Diann) Easterday both of Sturgis; her grandchildren: Jessica (Eric) Pulling, Donald (Mary) Easterday, Elizabeth (Garrett) Lewis, Darren (Michelle) Easterday, Robert (Kara) Easterday, Katie (Brad) Grostick, Ashley (Cody Westerhuis) Long and Anthony (Danielle Talbot) Easterday; great grandchildren: Claire Pulling, Madison Pulling, Makenzie Pulling, Issabella Easterday, Owen Easterday, Anna Easterday, Carolynn Easterday, Arabella Easterday, Madalyn Easterday, Sophia Easterday, Tori Grostick and Kaitlyn Grostick and a niece and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother: James Townsend.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service and placement of the ashes will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Michael Wicks will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends for the sharing of a meal and to honor and celebrate the life of Carol E. Easterday will be held from 12:30 – 3:00 P.M. Saturday, April 22nd at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.
