Lizzie S. Hochstetler age 93 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away early Monday morning, June 26, 2017 at her home.
She was born February 12, 1924 in Nottawa, Michigan daughter of the late Samuel N. and Fanny (Bontrager) Bontrager.
Mrs. Hochstetler resided most of her life in the Sturgis and Nottawa area with the exception of the nine years she lived in Arkansas.
On March 21, 1943 she married Albert Hochstetler in Centreville.
She retired from Rehau, Inc. in Sturgis following 8½ years of dedicated employment. She also worked part time at Borgert Bakery in Sturgis for nine years and cleaned homes and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hochstetler enjoyed word search puzzle, Artex paints and quilting and she loved time spent with children.
Mrs. Hochstetler is survived by her husband: Albert; seven sons: Amos (Mary) Hochstetler of Milford, Indiana, William (Fannie Mai) Hochstetler of Sturgis, Alvin (Alice "Missy") Hochstetler of Floyd, Virginia, Levi (Lucy) Hochstetler of Tennessee, Freeman (Judi) Hochstetler of Sturgis, LeeRoy (Rhoda) Hochstetler of Constantine and Ray (Ida) Hochstetler of LaGrange, Indiana; 27 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 31 step-great grandchildren; 41 step-great great grandchildren; one sister: Edna Yoder of Centreville; three brothers: Henry Bontrager of Wisconsin, Menno Bontrager of Centreville and Amos Bontrager of Goshen, Indiana and many nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons: Sam and Marvin Hochstetler; three daughters-in-law; two sisters: Katie Hostetler and Anna Stauffer; one half-sister: Nancy Dennis and four brothers: Reuben, Chris, Levi, and William Bontrager
The family will receive friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Calvary Chapel, 66969 N Centerville Rd, in Sturgis. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Chapel 10:00 A.M. Saturday. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Pilgrim Fellowship Cemetery in Nottawa.
The Rosenberg Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to Hospice of Sturgis, P.O. Box 126, Sturgis, MI 49091 or the Christian Aid Ministries, 660 S Van Buren St # B, Shipshewana, IN 46565.

My deepest sympathies to the family. I went to school with the boys and Levi and I were friends. We rode the bus together. Mrs. Hochstetler was one of the nicest ladies I have ever met. I know she will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

I worked with Lizzie at Rehau. She always supplied us with goodies. She was a great lady and a true friend. I am the one who wrote the retirement poem that is in her Rehau scrapbook. Lizzie my sweet Lizzie. This is PHYLLIS DUDLEY. My thoughts and prayers are with you Burt, Leroy&Rhoda. I worked with Lizzie at Rehau for many years. It is not easy to lose Mom or to say goodbye. there is a peace in knowing that she loved her Creator and lived accordingly. My condolences to the family. May each of you know the inner peace that Aunt Lizzie knew.
